This is a simple report showing you how to automate twitter and take advantage of its community building resources.

I am going to show you a couple of simple tactics that will make using twitter easier and lead to more traffic generated to your websites.

I am assuming you know what twitter is since you are here – but in case you don’t it is a simple but powerful mini-blogging platform – a social networking system – where you post a one sentence blurb on what you are up to.

You might say – “I am making a website – take a look”

“It’s my birthday! Here’s a gift”

Anything relevant to you … You follow people and they in turn follow you. It’s simple, easy and MUCH more powerful than it sounds.

Step One

If you don’t have an account with twitter than go here right now to get one:

http://twitter.com/philgene (yes that’s me – sign up and follow –I’ll follow you back J)

Step Two

Once you have an account you are going to set up a way to automatically respond to and follow anyone who follows you. When anyone follows you it is a great opportunity to send them a DIRECT MESSAGE (or a DM as it is called) saying thanks for following and to present them with a link to your website or blog.

The benefits of this should be obvious!

Here is how you will automate this direct message.

Go to http://tweetlater.com sign up and use their automatic functions. It’s easy and quick. They provide several options – just make sure you set up the automatic follow and respond functions. Don’t forget to finish up by setting a rule in your email account! Now your “thank you for following me “message will all be done automatically. There are more benefits to http://tweetlater.com that you will see – such as you can email all your friends at once – very useful…

Step Three

Now we want to set up an automatic system so that every time you post on your blog a Tweet is sent to Twitter (whoever came up with these names had birds on the brain…)

Here’s how to do that.

Go to Twitterfeed http://twitterfeed.com and sign up using your OpenId – what is that you ask? It is an id that can be used across many platforms and most likely you have one already but don’t know it. In any case you can sign up for an OpenId right there on the twitter feed home page.

Login to Twitterfeed with this OpenId and fill out the form telling them your twitter user name (mine is philgene for example). This is all very easy and actually simpler to do than to describe!

They will also need to know the URL of your Blog’s feed – mine is http://rapidresponsebot.com/blog/feed/ for example.

AND that’s it – now when you post to your blog it will get posted on twitter with a link to the post!

Pretty cool and a great use of Twitter for traffic generation or whatever social reason you might have.

These two simple little automation task can result in HUGE returns. Please don’t toss this away in the lost pile! Go do it right now. There are no costs anywhere and the only person gaining is you!

Mind-Blowing Awesome Traffic

I want to talk a bit about what optimizing your traffic means. I don’t mean getting more traffic to your site. I mean the hard work of creating an optimized sales system so that your traffic is providing you with a solid income. In other words your sales conversion process.

Nobody likes to do it – why? -because it’s kinda like work but just sending more traffic – although great – is never the solution to your conversion issues. The key is taking a hard look at your sales process and understanding what can be done to improve it. This means what happens the moment your traffic arrives at your website. Let’s get it out of the way right now -YOU MUST GET YOUR TRAFFICS EMAIL ADDRESS! After that you can give away stuff to your traffic – built relationships with them and show them you are a reliable person.

You get the email of your traffic by offering something free that is of value. Now everybody says they hate popups but there area  lot of new technologies – like slide ups from the bottom of your page  – that people kinda think are neat. These newer pop ups get huge conversion rates simple because they attract the attention and are asking your traffic to take an active role rather than a passive “just browsing” role.

Ok you have the email – now what? Of course you have captured it with your autoresponder system – right? I hope so! The rule of thumb is 7 emails before someone buys – now I don’t really know if this is true or not but it sure is a fact that having a set of autoresponder messages sent out at regular intervals is going to be the bread and butter of your business. Give something away to your customers in your autoresponder series. Don’t be afraid to also just say you have something useful for sale along with it. Make sure your selling pertinent items – things that relate to why your customers are interested in your newsletter.

Be personal – forget trying to come off like a corporation – be a person they can relate to – be fast – be friendly and dismiss refunders and negative comments. Give refunds happily and quickly and just move on – it ‘s part of any business.

The step coming up everyone hates – me too – but without it you are flying blind – that step is Track It All – it’s boring but it is the lifeblood of your business. Use link trackers in your autoresponder emails – you’ll see how many times they get clicked. Use conversion tracking codes – basically just a code that shows the number of people who arrive and what percent go through to the final purchasing of your products. You can google software for it – or use Google Analytics for that matter…

These stats are going to be the basis for optimizing your sales process over time -so they are important to collect.
